Lacy Ties ‘em Up

by admin on October 14th, 2009

The Div 3 season got off to a good start on the weekend with a convincing 18-1 victory over newly promoted Gawler Rangers. Returning from a year in the wilderness Brett Lacy was given starting dome duties for the home side. After giving up an early run he settled down nicely to shutout the Gawler side for the rest of the game. Working both sides of the plate and throwing a range of pitches he threw 6 digs for 6 K’s, 6 hits and 1BB.

Behind him the defence was solid all day with Tony Stephens making difficult plays look routine at 3b. Nobby Noblett, patrolling CF, made some nice outs including throwing out a runner at 3b and Nick Louzikiotis behind the dish blocked everything and kept the runners honest. No errors in the field showed our one week of preseason was more than enough.

Offensively everyone showed good discipline at the plate waiting for a pitch they could handle. A two out rally in the first where the Eagles had seven consecutive runners reach base after the leadoff and number 2 were retired shows we bat all the way through the line up with no easy outs. Tony Stephens had 5rbi on the day and Charlie Brown knocked in 3. A good first up win with the lads packing the surfboards for the trip to Souths this week.
