All Eagles have now left the nest!

by admin on October 20th, 2009

The club saw its first complete Round of Seniors and Juniors on a weekend that featured some emphatic wins, a couple of close calls which went our way and another couple that didn’t. Overall, it has been an outstanding start to the season by our club.

The scoreboard reads as follows:

Division 1 (7)   lost to  Goodwood  (8)  [1 Win – 1 Loss  (7th on %)]

Division 2 (10) defeated  Goodwood  (0)   [1 Win – 1 Loss  (5th)]

Division 3 (12) defeated  Southern Districts (3) [2 Wins – 0 Losses  (1st)]

Division 4 (7) defeated  Port Adelaide (6) [2 Wins – 0 Losses (2nd on %)]

Division 5 (14) defeated  Glenelg (12) [ 2 Wins – 0 Losses (4th on %)]

Division 6 (17)  defeated Gawler  (11) [1 Win – 1 Draw  (4th)]

Under 18 (14) defeated Goodwood (2) [2 Wins – 0 Losses (1st)]

Under 16 (8) defeated Kensington (2) [1 Win – 0 Losses (2nd on %)]

Under 14 [1] (18) defeated Kensington (2) [1 Win – 0 Losses (1st)]

Under 14 [2] (4) lost to Northern District (15)  [0 Wins – 1 Loss (8th)]

LL Major (11) defeated Southern Districts (4) [1 Win – 0 Losses (2nd on %)]

LL Minor (9) lost to Sturt (10)  [ 0 Wins – 1 Loss (= 5th)]

That’s 9 wins from 12 teams or 75% winning percentage and 14 wins from 19 matches overall 74% winning percentage. What an outstanding start , with the promise of plenty more to come. As you can see the our Number 1 team and our Number 12 team both lost by a whisker, The Div 2’s bounced back emphatically from their first up narrow loss, The Div 3 Juggernaut is starting to roll, Div 4 last year managed just 2 wins for the whole season, so we’ve equaled that in Week 2!! Div 5  and 6 are both still undefeated!

On the Junior side of the ledger, the Under 18’s have started in awesome fashion, posting 2 wins in and looking menacing, the Under 16 squad kicked off their campaign with a win against a feisty Cardinals outfit, as did the Under 14/1 team in absolutely emphatic fashion. Our Under 14 (2) team suffered a reverse at the hands of Northern Districts, but the Little League Major team were too good for Southern Districts at the nest.

Congratulations to all teams, players and coaches for the outstanding way that we have started. Our club continues to set a high benchmark and if we all work toward the goal of supporting each other, we can continue to achieve results that we are all proud of. Well done also to all the new families that experienced and Eagles Baseball weekend for the first time. We hope you can’t wait to come back for more next week.
